Part 8 describes the test methods and procedures to demonstrate that 28 VDC utilization equipment is compatible with the electric power characteristics of MIL-STD-704. These series of handbooks and MIL-STD-704 are companion documents.

【摘要】:ThispartofBS5588providesguidancefordesignersandthebuildingconstructionteamontheincorporationofventilationandairconditioningductworkintonewandexistingbuildingsotherthanpremisescoveredbyBS5908.NOTE1ItisessentialthattherecommendationsgiveninthispartofBS5588areappliedanewifphysicalalterationsaremadetoanexistingbuildingwhichhaveadetrimentaleffectonthemeansofescapefromthebuilding,evenifsuchalterationsarenotstructural.Thestandardcoversnon-combustiblebuildingserviceducts,andductworkmanufacturedfrommetaland/orrigidmineralbasedcomponentswhichexhibit:a)highintegritywhenexposedtofullydevelopedfireconditions;b)resistancetopenetrationbyflame;c)anabilitytoexcludeorcontainfire.Itdoesnotcoverductworkmanufacturedfrommaterialsthatrapidlymelt,shatterordegradeduringfireexposure,forexampleglassandplasticsmaterials.Thestandardcoversprecautionstopreventthespreadoffireandsmokeandotherbyproductsofcombustionwithinabuildingthroughthemovementofairforenvironmentalcontrol,i.e.ventilation,heatingandcooling.Itdoesnotcoverthemovementofairforpurposesotherthanforenvironmentalcontrol,e.g.boilerflues,pneumaticinformationtransfersystems,norsmokecontrolsystems,pressuredifferentialsystemsandindustrialprocessplantextractsystems.NOTE2ThedesignandconstructionofserviceductsiscoveredinBS8313,thedesignofpressurizationsystemsforsmokecontrolinprotectedescaperoutesiscoveredinBS5588-4,andthedesignofsmokecontrolsystemswithinatriabuildings,placesofassemblyandshoppingcomplexesarecoveredinBS5588-6,-7and-10respectively.
